Rep. Ruth Balser and DCR visit Stone Building

Rep. Ruth Balser has been actively working to get the restoration of the Stone Building underway. Here is an excerpt from her latest letter to constituents:

Site Visit with DCR to Quinobequin Road and Stone Building in Hemlock Gorge: For many years I have worked with the Friends of Quinobequin Road and the Friends of Hemlock Gorge on protecting and improving access to these natural and historic gems. I have been successful in securing state funds to restore the Stone Building and to improve conditions in the Charles River Reservation along Quinobequin Road. I invited the Massachusetts Department of Conservation (DCR) to meet me at the site with a group of residents to discuss implementation of the plans to improve the area. I was delighted that DCR Commission Brian Arrigo joined us on the walk in September. He got an earful from us!! From the delays in implementing the improvements to speeding traffic along the road. He committed to working with us on implementing the improvements. In fact, DCR has already installed two new speed limit signs on the road in response to the advocacy on the part of the neighbors who attended the meeting.
