How to Participate
Become a member
Membership in the Friends of Hemlock Gorge Reservation (FHG) helps
the park while providing many exciting an informative opportunities
for you as well. As a member of the Friends you are entitled to:
- The Friends' Newsletter
- An invitation to exclusive programs and special events offered
only to Friends
- A discount on any products produced by the Friends
- An opportunity to provide input into projects undertaken by
the Friends

Serve as a committee member
Would you like to work closely with other members of the Friends?
Do you have administrative, supervisory, accounting, computer,
or organizational skills? The Friends need your help, individually
or as a committee member, to make the organization run smoothly
and effectively.
Be a volunteer
Do you have a few hours to spare? Become a vital part of the workings
of Hemlock Gorge! Potential volunteer help is as diverse as those
who use the park:
- Lead tours such as historical walks
- Assist in maintaining park cleanliness
- Conduct historical research
- Assist in fundraising, such as that needed to repair the Ellis
Stone Building
- Build a trail or rustic bridge
- Assist with large programs
- Sell fundraising items like calendars and books
- Contribute to the Friends' Web Site
Become a special supporter
Donations of money or materials to the Friends allow the park
to purchase vital items such as trash cans, benches, and new equipment.
We can help the reservation sponsor programs and projects such
as:
- Programming for school children
- Interpretive signs in the park
- Professional printing of brochures, calendars, or interpretive
fact sheets
- Living history programs
- Construction of a second rustic bridge, planned for 1997-98
- Restoration of the Ellis Stone Building
- Maintenance of the Friends' Web Site
